About Clear Aligners

When do I get my treatment plan? +

You’ll typically get your treatment plan after 3-5 working days of having the 3D scan done or impressions taken.

What if I have to get dental work done while in treatment? +

If you need to get any dental work done that would impact your treatment, reach out to our customer care team. You can either send an email to support@wismile.me or call us at 800 WISMILE.

We’re available 8am-8pm seven days a week.

No need to contact us for regular cleanings.

Do WiSmile aligners use attachments or buttons? +

Attachments and buttons are sometimes recommended to give better accuracy to the result of the treatment and in other more advanced cases it's a must to perform a certain kind of movement that the aligners alone cannot perform. We always aim to give the perfect result that can be obtained from the treatment so we use all the needed to reach our goal.

How do I clean and/or sanitize my aligners? +

To clean your aligners, just rinse them with cool water.
Never rinse your aligners with hot water or soak them in mouthwash or denture cleaner.

Can I play musical instruments with my aligners? +

Yes — your aligners won’t be in the way at all.

Can I exercise with aligners? +

Absolutely. The aligners will have no impact whatsoever on your ability to exercise.

What should I expect at the end of treatment? +

Your treatment is finished as soon as you’ve completed your last aligner step. In this case, you’re done with the active phase of tooth movement and you’ll begin the passive healing phase of treatment.

In the six-week passive healing phase, you’ll use your last set of aligners which are called the Retainers.

Follow this schedule of wear.

  • For the first two weeks, wear them 22 hours a day.
  • For the third and fourth week, wear your retainers for 18 hours per day.
  • For the fifth and sixth weeks, wear them for 12–14 hours per day.

After those six weeks, switch to wearing your aligners for 8 hours at night indefinitely. If you deviate from this schedule, your teeth may revert back to their original positions.

How do WiSmile retainers work? +

Retainers work by keeping your teeth in their new position during the passive healing phase of treatment, then indefinitely after that. Remember that treatment doesn’t end when the active bone-remodeling phase is complete — your teeth are constantly shifting, and if you don’t wear your retainers as prescribed, they’ll start to shift back toward their original position.

How long do I need to wear the retainer for? +

You’ll need to wear your retainers for the 6 week passive healing phase of your WiSmile treatment, and then for 8 hours per night indefinitely.

  • For the first two weeks after active treatment, wear your retainers for 22 hours a day.
  • For the third and fourth weeks, wear your retainers for 18 hours per day.
  • For the fifth and sixth weeks, wear them for 12–14 hours per day.

Make sure you keep wearing them for 8 hours at night indefinitely, because if you don’t, your teeth will start to shift back toward their original position.

What should I expect when I receive retainers? +

Your first set of retainers is also included in your WiSmile Alignerbox, which should last around 6 - 9 months. If you order new set of retainers, they’ll cost 750 AED if no 3D scan is required, or 1050 AED if a new 3D scan is needed. The retianers work as a holding for the teeth to not move out of their correct position.

How long do the retainers last? +

We recommend that you change your retainers every six to nine months. You can purchase new retainers here.

Will the aligners cause soreness? +

You can expect a little bit of discomfort as you get used to wearing your aligners — after all, you’ll have something completely new and unfamiliar in your mouth for extended periods of time.

Beyond that general adjustment period, there’s also typically some soreness during the first few days you wear each new set of aligners. When pressure is applied to a tooth to initiate movement, the periodontal ligament surrounding it is stretched on one side of the root and compressed on the other.

Should I keep my old aligners? +

Yes, we highly recommend that you keep all of your aligners throughout treatment.

How long is the treatment? +

Treatment with WiSmile normally takes six months on average, and it will almost never take longer than 11 months on the high end.

Why were my photos rejected? +

We ask you to retake your photos when they won’t be able to serve as viable diagnostic tools for your orthodontist. That would be the case for one of two reasons: because the quality of the photos themselves is too low, or because they don’t show your teeth and gums fully enough.

What if I have concerns about the way my teeth are moving or my treatment? +

If you have any concerns, reach out to our care team. They’ll review your case and loop in your orthodontist, who will review your previous scans and determine the best course of action.

Is there anything that can make treatment go faster? +

Remote monitoring actually makes treatment go faster than it would be if you had to check in with your orthodontist in person before every step of treatment. You’ll get the go-ahead to switch to your next aligners as soon as you’re ready — not just when you can get an appointment.

That said, it’s really important to only move ahead when your orthodontist tells you to. Trying to speed through the process can adversely affect the health of your teeth and gums and the healing of the periodontal ligaments surrounding your teeth.

Can I talk to my orthodontist directly? +

Our care team typically acts as the liaison between you and your orthodontist. If you have any concerns about your treatment, reach out via chat or email at wismile.me — and they’ll loop him or her in right away.

Who is my orthodontist in your network? +

Every orthodontist in our network has at least two years of postdoctoral training in the biomechanics of tooth movement, with an average of 20 years of experience overall. So no matter who your orthodontist is, you’ll always be in good hands.

When do I start seeing results? +

The rate at which you’ll start seeing results varies on a case by case basis, since no two treatment plans are the same. But generally speaking, you’ll notice movement almost right away after crossing 25-30% of the steps.

When do I change my aligners? +

On average you change your aligner set to the next step after 7-10 days depending on what was communicated with you on the beginning of the treatment, unless you were informed otherwise. You will be instructed about that after taking your regular pictures and sharing them with us.

Are the aligners really invisible? +

They’re as invisible as something can be. You often cannot recognize that people are wearing them.

What if I lose an aligner? +

If you lose an aligner, contact our care team immediately. Depending on your case, you may be able to move on to the next step in treatment. In certain cases, you may need to purchase a replacement step, single aligner for 270AED and the pair of aligners for 400 AED. It’s important that you reach out to us immediately, so your account can be updated to reflect your current step.

How do the retainers look? +

The retainers look exactly the same as your last set of aligners.

Impression Kit

What if I make a mistake on my impressions? +

If our lab receives distorted impressions that prevent them from making accurate aligners, we will contact you regarding sending another impression kit.

Could my impressions be rejected? +

Impressions are not hard to complete but if you're not paying attention you could make a mistake. We cannot use impressions if they don't capture the position and shape of your teeth in detail, if they are too shallow, not showing the line where your teeth meet your gums or if your teeth scrape against the side of the tray.

The impressions are intended to serve as the basis for a digital model your orthodontist will use to create your custom treatment plan. The fidelity of that model — the level of anatomical detail it provides — is a key factor in your care: If it isn’t a precise rendering of your teeth and gumline, your orthodontist won’t be able to design and engineer a truly individualized plan. So the quality of the initial impressions is crucial.

The good news is, we've given really clear instructions - please take the time to read them and complete your impressions without distraction.

How long after returning my Impression Kit will I receive my treatment plan? +

We can't wait for you to get started either, so you'll receive your treatment plan within 5 working days after we confirm reception of your kit and photos.

Where should I send the pictures of my teeth? +

To take and submit your photos, log into your WiSmile profile

How do I take my photos? +

For instructions on taking your photos and impressions, kindly check your impression guide and log into your profile.

How do I submit my impressions? +

Don't worry, we’ve thought of everything! You'll get a pre-paid return box and label included in the Impression Kit.

What if I don’t know how to do the impressions? +

If you are struggling with the impressions or have any questions, please contact our customer care team at 800 WISMILE (7 days a week from 8AM-8PM) or send us an email to support@wismile.me

How do I take impressions? +

We will include a detailed impression guide in the impression kit box. We also recommend watching our impression video guide.

How can I order an impression kit? +

You can order an impression kit for 400AED after creating your account.

What is included in the Impression Kit? +

Everything you need to measure the current position of your teeth, ready for our team of orthodontists to prepare your treatment plan. You'll find instructions for your photos and impressions, dental trays (2 x Up and 2x down )and putty to make the impressions, alongside a cheek stretcher for stretching out your smile and taking pictures of your teeth. You'll also find a nice pair of gloves for your hands and and a prepaid return box for sending your completed impressions back to us.

Could the photos of my teeth be rejected? +

We ask you to retake your photos when they won’t be able to serve as viable diagnostic tools for your orthodontist. Low quality photos (too dark, too blurry or heavy flash) will not help our dedicated team of orthodontists to diagnose and treat your case.

They would also be rejected if they didn’t show key details like the occlusal surfaces (the part of the teeth you use to chew) or your gumline (the line where the gums and the teeth meet).

We've provided detailed instructions for this in the Impression Kit.

Treatment with WiSmile

What are WiSmile Aligners? +

Wismile aligners are a hassle-free solution to move your teeth and transform your smile. They work as a series of 3D printed, tight-fitting removable oral trays made of a clear plastic material that are custom made to each mouth and gradually move teeth into the desired position.

Can I wear WiSmile Aligners during pregnancy? +

If the expectant mother started a WiSmile treatment before she was pregnant, there is no contraindication to continue it during pregnancy. Wearing Aligners does not harm the mother or her baby. Nevertheless, we recommend that the treatment should not be started until after delivery and the end of breastfeeding.

Nausea often occurs during pregnancy, which makes it difficult to wear Clear Aligners consistently. In addition, the hormonal changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding also have an effect on the gums. The gums are better supplied with blood, become looser and may swell slightly. WiSmile Treatment during pregnancy is then unnecessarily unpleasant.

Can I use WiSmile clear aligners if I have missing teeth? +

Our aligners can work for some customers who have missing teeth. The licensed orthodontist assigned to you will assess your smile and determine if WiSmile aligners are the best fit for you.

Can I wear aligners if I have a diagnosed dental condition? +

If you have one of the following conditions, you might not be eligible for clear aligner treatment: dental implants, missing teeth, unfilled cavities, swollen or inflamed gums, osteoporosis, periodontal disease or permanent retainers. Our team of specialists will review your case to determine whether or not our aligners are right for you.

How long do I need to wait after having my wisdom teeth removed before I can start with my WiSmile treatment? +

Typically, you will need to wait six weeks after having your third molars (or wisdom teeth) extracted before starting with your WiSmile treatment. If your dentist feels it’s safe, you may be able to start earlier with a signed release form from his or her office.

Can I wear aligners if I have my wisdom teeth? +

If your dentist has recommended removal of wisdom teeth, then please follow that direction.

If not, WiSmile aligners can be used whether or not you have wisdom teeth. However, you shouldn’t get them removed during the length of your treatment.

Can I get aligners for just one set of teeth? +

To ensure that you get a comfortable bite on top of straight teeth, aligners work as a set that move your teeth together. In 99% of cases, proper treatment cannot occur without moving both sets of teeth.

I'm under 18, can I use Wismile aligners? +

No, sorry - it’s really important to note that your teeth and jaw are still in motion at this age so aligners are not a good idea for you just yet. We will not be able to approve treatment for anyone who is under the age of 18.

Do WiSmile aligners use attachments or buttons? +

Attachments and buttons are sometimes needed to reach a better accuracy in the result of the treatment of Aligners. So in some case it's needed to use them.

What are WiSmile aligners made of? +

WiSmile aligners are made from the highest-quality medical grade plastic. They are free from BPA, phthalates and parabens. They are designed to be smooth and comfortable to wear so that they don’t irritate your gums.

Will people be able to notice I am wearing aligners? +

Wismile aligners are made of thin and transparent plastic, so that they are invisible to people standing at a regular speaking distance to you.

Why wouldn’t someone be a candidate for WiSmile clear aligners? +

There are three main reasons you wouldnt be a candidate:

  • Because your case falls beyond the range of the mild to moderate malocclusions we treat. (The term malocclusion, literally bad bite, refers to an imperfection in the way your teeth come together when your jaw is closed.) We dont treat severe alignment, and we cant offer bite correction. In any case where youd be better served by in-office dental or orthodontic treatment with close monitoring than by remote treatment with WiSmile, well be completely up front about it — we always want you to get the best possible care.
  • Because you either havent been to the dentist recently or have upcoming dental work scheduled. We require your primary oral care needs to have been addressed prior to treatment. A dentist will make sure you dont have any cavities or decay and that your gums are healthy enough for orthodontic teeth movement.
  • Because you have a permanent retainer.

How do I know if WiSmile aligners are right for me? +

To know if you’re a candidate for WiSmile aligners, simply click here and fill out our 30 seconds smile assessment. Our orthodontists will carefully review your case to make sure that our aligners are right for you.The clear aligner system is designed for minor to moderate teeth correction, including space between teeth, crowding, and rotations.

How do WiSmile Aligners work? +

Our treatment works as a series of clear aligners that slightly differ from one another and that you change every week. Each set of aligners will apply a gentle pressure to your teeth to move them until they gradually adjust to the desired position. The moving process is designed by our team of specialists who plan each step of the treatment so you can achieve your perfect smile. Our aligners are 3D-printed using state-of-the-art technology and custom-made to exactly fit tightly around the contour of your teeth and gums, making them practically invisible. We make it even easier by shipping your aligners directly to you.

Is there a money-back guarantee if I don’t like the results of my treatment? +

We do not offer a money-back guarantee. That said, it’s very important to us that you do end up happy with your results.

If your teeth don’t match the result you see in your 3D treatment plan, we’ll look into a process called refinements. Refinements are additional aligners added at the end of treatment.

In order to qualify for no-cost refinements, you must have worn your aligners as-prescribed throughout your treatment. That means you’ve worn your aligners for 22 hours a day for the number of days instructed to you,Sending your follow up pictures on regular basis at the end of each step without missing any step, completed scans as-requested, and only moved forward to a new set of aligners when instructed to do so by your orthodontist.

Refinements must be requested within 30 days of finishing your last aligner step.

Nighttime WiSmile Aligners

Is Nighttime Aligner Therapy Safe? +

Nighttime aligner therapy is a safe and effective path to a straighter smile. Like any clear aligner treatment plan, patients should follow their assigned orthodontist’s prescription of 10 consecutive hours of wear per night. While the average time of treatment may be longer than the average 22-hour a day aligner therapy, this discreet and flexible alternative will safely achieve desired results.

How are Nighttime Aligners different from WiSmile’s traditional clear aligner treatment plan? +

Nighttime Aligners provide a more discreet, flexible treatment plan for customers with mild to moderate spacing and crowding issues. WiSmile’s custom-made, BPA-free clear aligners will safely straighten your teeth with at least 10 hours of continuous wear each night.

Traditional 22-hour a day clear aligner therapy is a more convenient, faster option for customers seeking treatment for a timely event like a graduation or a wedding.

Will my teeth move more slowly because I am only wearing aligners at night? +

Each aligner set is custom-made to safely move your teeth within the prescribed time provided by your licensed dentist or orthodontist. Any deviation from the prescribed treatment plan is not advised.

Is WiSmile the only company to offer Nighttime Aligner treatment?  +

Nighttime Aligners is the first aligner system in the Middle East that safely allows customers to wear clear aligners for only 10 continuous hours per night. Wearing Nighttime Aligners while you sleep is more convenient to many people's lifestyle.

Why should I try Nighttime Aligners? +

There are three key reasons to take advantage of WiSmiles Nighttime Aligners:

  • Convenience: Customers can get the smile theyll love while only wearing aligners for 10 hours per night;
  • Affordability:Nighttime Aligners cost up to 70% less than traditional braces. You can get a smile you love for a flat fee.
  • Accessibility: Customers using Nighttime Aligners may have careers or lifestyles that preclude them from wearing aligners during the day. These customers now have the flexibility to only focus onstraightening their teeth atnight.

Nighttime Aligner therapy provides a more discreet, flexible teeth straightening solution for customers who cannot commit to 22 hours of daily wear. 10-hour aligners are safe and very discreet to wear because customers only wear them at night and when they sleep.

Who might not choose Nighttime Clear Aligners? +

If you have significant crowding or spacing issues, the option to straighten teeth at night may not be the best fit for you. Or, if you want to finish your treatment as quickly as possible — perhaps you have a wedding or graduation coming up — you might want to decide for WiSmile’s 22-hour-wear aligners.
